We gathered twigs shaped like wishbones from grassland tumbleweeds. We caught butterflies with strawberry wings and ate rose petals that tasted of lye. We fled from a flurry of frogs, laid siege to swamps with spears, and hunted our hunger without remorse.
We surrendered ourselves when the feathers of birds changed hue. Erasing the world when crimson changed to winter. Just before we went out of our minds. And in doing so, we came to our senses for just a moment.
