I return to a summit of snow and reprieves. I dig through the slush of apologies with bare hands. I whisper silvery notes from our sweet-nothing hymn.
We were perfection once, not so long ago; a sliver of twice-folded excellence.
I find my entombed coal; my last piece of you. It warms my calloused fingers with a gentleness I could never muster, myself.
I swallow it whole, and melt the mountains with the incandescence of my pyre-light memories.
