A waterfall the shape of a horsetail whips the skyline. The sun sharpens stray droplets into tainted glass shards. I sit and dip my feet in water clear enough to scry a dozen years of memory. I stop feeling my ankles after the first five minutes.
Two sunburns later, I've leapt from razor rocks to emerald brush. Every flat boulder is named exhilaration. Every molecule of my marrow is thankful that I'm still slyly spry. I could live there, in that place. Some day, when the grey apocalypse comes. When I'm the only one left, and I've no one left to abandon.
