I find myself suffocated by silence in a wooded wonderland sometime in the late evening. I carry a single strap backpack full of careful considerations. I bring no fear along with me. My pockets are empty. I can feel my heart hammer in my chest.
A blonde and wraithly vision of beauty caresses my mind. My world convulses. She splinters my serenity without effort. I reach out and brush away the midnight mist with a gentle nudge. I cannot do the same with her specter.
I close my eyes and capture the memory in a prison of nostalgia and cherishing. There is nothing left for me to claim. So I move on, again.
"When the whippoorwill whispers in the wind, the wind can whimper back without woe."
