Work shift lasted three weeks last night. I peddled plastic smiles to zombies and tourists. The lights kept clicking off if we were too still.
We left together in an absence of fog. Our breaths turned into twin dragons in the parking lot. She reached for my hand with insecure fingers.
She invited me inside hours ago. We searched the backseat for the source of the sound of static. She was unable to hear it, but helped me look, all the same. She drowned out the white noise with black fingernails and body heat. I sent her home and turned the knob of my radio up to infinity.
