The sun shines too brightly on the abandoned remedial high school. The courtyards are heavily dusted with russet red leaves, while my infirm lover beats herself into an asthmatic's health outside in an overgrown football field. I scale cracked orange walls lined with jutting mascot sigils. The sweat of spring draws rivets in sunblock applied as an afterthought. The rooftop was the most pristine white, for miles and miles. I've never felt more alone. Or more comfortable.
