The smell of burning candles drains my sinuses of nostalgia. I feel snapped into a dozen pieces. Acutely aware of every cracked seam. I dig out an old defibrillator to regulate my broken heartbeat. A walk on abandon sidewalks, past overgrown lawns, earns me soaked-through shoes and a squandered afternoon. The sun sets behind rainclouds while I dance unapologetically with myself. Sweating in the dark to the tinny scratch of the records of youth. I fall asleep early from boredom and restlessness.
