I dote on red-stained puppets with acetone kisses for wood-sickness. I leave folded paper cranes and scrounged confections in an empty freezer. I brush off the praise of spiderwebs. It was ninety degrees a little after midnight. I hung up blackout curtains to shut out the world. My affection is slowly bleached away on the pavement outside. One long day at a time.
