I pile hollow desires into my single-strap backpack. I skulk around the edgaes of flirtation a week at a time. No results. The scorching California heat plays favorites amongst the zombies. Halfway across town, I regard a half-butchered jackrabbit thoughtfully. Cautiously. The grudge of selfishness taps a welt into skin. From bag to shoulder blades. Spoiled rations and old letters carried around as a reminder. Heavy and necessary, like my calcified bones.
