Long hours pulled taut between bouts of unpleasant news. Half days bleached into submission by the interminability of boredom. That half-sick feeling between mental landscapes. Strung out on nootropics from smashed and nondescript storefronts. Sleep comes quickly, but fades so fast. Nursing an adrenal hangover with watered down tea. Carrier pigeons bring me schadenfreude in gossipy snippets. A hot mess of a woman knocks on my door to visit. I decline her company on the grounds of a bite-bruised thigh. I retire to the rusted repetition of routine.
